Objectives
To identify and manage climate change-related impacts and develop strategies in line with global and industry practices as we acknowledge that climate change presents risks and opportunities to the marine industry.
To regularly analyse all aspects of energy management and waste production and disposal in line with TMSA 3 requirements. To provide technical advice to our customers on the use of alternative energy sources instead of fossil fuels in main and auxiliary engines in new construction projects.
We also ask our employees and stakeholders in the value chain to help us reach our goals by following this policy.
Our organization is committed to mitigating climate change impacts through responsible ship management practices. This policy outlines our commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing environmental sustainability across our fleet.
Measures
Mitigation - To reduce the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, we will:
- Measure and maintain a carbon emission inventory to develop strategies and targets.
- Increase the use of renewable energy and low-carbon energy sources where applicable.
- Incorporate environmental considerations into procurement processes and promote the use of low-carbon and energy-efficient products and services.
- Explore opportunities for offsetting carbon emissions.
- Engage employees, suppliers, and customers to reduce carbon emissions in their daily operations and promote a low-carbon culture where practicable.
- In order to optimize fuel efficiency and also reduce greenhouse gas consumption, we will use weather routeing advice and speed & consumption recording software when planning routes.
- Maintain and regularly calibrate equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
- Implement energy-efficient technologies and practices across all operations.
- Reduce waste and promote recycling and re-use of materials on board.
- Determine targets for emissions from gas and oil and plan short- and long-term emission reductions.
Adaptation - To equip our operations for a changing climate, we will:
- Assess climate-related risks and opportunities, incorporating them into our risk management system and crisis management plans.
- Improve operational processes to respond to climate risks, including physical and transition risks.
- Strengthen awareness among our ship crew and office staff about climate change, the importance of reducing the carbon footprint, preserving the marine environment, and emergency management through ongoing training.
- Develop and implement contingency plans to address potential climate-related disruptions.
- Install fuel optimization system for bigger size vessels on current fleet for setting minimum consumption by reference speeds.
Resilience - To enhance our ability to rebound quickly from the impacts of climate change, we will:
- Track global and local climate-related trends and improve our knowledge of best practices available and applicable to our fleet and value chain.
- Ensure that relevant information and resources are available for monitoring and regularly reviewing the impacts of climate change on our operations, as well as our climate mitigation and adaptation strategies.
- Communicate and collaborate with suppliers and customers on our climate risks, opportunities, and strategies to identify practicable actions, promote innovations, and help improve their resilience against future climate-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with IMO regulations on emission control, including the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI), Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI) and Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII).
- Ensure compliance with EU and USCG local relevant regulations on emission control such as EU/UK MRV.
Disclosure - To communicate with stakeholders transparently, we will:
- Disclose climate-related information transparently and in a timely manner through Quarterly and Annual Management Review Reports.
- Report on our progress towards climate-related goals and initiatives.
- Engage in open dialogue with stakeholders to discuss our climate strategy, progress, and areas for improvement.
We will consider our business development, resources, capabilities, and the availability of technologies while striving to achieve the aforementioned strategies and practices. The HSEQ department is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and reporting this policy to the Board of Directors, working in close cooperation with other departments and contracted vendors when necessary.
